Dialup Setup for Mac OS 8 or 9

Please keep these instructions near your computer. If your computer crashes and you need to reinstall everything, use this as a guide for getting your connection to Linxure properly set up again. If you lose these instructions, go to the Linxure web site at http://www.linxure.net/help-setup.php and print them again as soon as possible.

Operating systems supported by Linxure are Windows 2000, Windows XP, and MacOS 9 or higher. All other operating systems are not supported. If you can make another operating system work, that's great, by all means use it. Linxure does not provide technical assistance for any operating system not listed above. Specifically, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, 98, Me, NT and MacOS 7 & 8 are not supported. If you use one of these operating systems, please upgrade.

Configure using Internet Setup Assistant Open your hard disk, and locate the folder called Assistants. In that folder, you'll find the Internet Setup Assistant.

On the opening screen, click on Update.
On page 1, simply click the right arrow.
On page 2, select Add Internet configuration, and click the right arrow.
For page 3, type in Linxure for the name of the configuration, and select modem as your connection type. Click the right arrow.
On page 4, select whatever modem you have and the port it is connected to. In our area, we only have Tone dialing, so select that and click the right arrow.
On page 5, enter the dialup number you wish to use from the dialup number page. Put in the username you gave to Linxure when you set up your account, and your password. Then click the right arrow.
For page 6, click on No and click the right arrow.
On page 7, fill in the fields as shown, then click the right arrow.
On page 8, put in your email address, which is whatever your username is plus @linxure.net. Enter your password again in the password box, then click the right arrow.
On page 9, enter your username plus @mail.Linxure.net for the email account, and enter simply mail.Linxure.net for the email host. Then click the right arrow.
On page 10, enter news.Linxure.net and click the right arrow.
If you have MacOS 8.0, page 11 will be as shown. If you have MacOS 8.1 or higher, page 11 will ask you if you use proxy servers. In that case, select No and click the right arrow to get to page 12, which will look like the page shown. At this point, you can either click Go Ahead if you're sure you entered everything correctly, or click on Show Details if you want to review the information you've entered.
If you clicked on Show Details, you should see the information as shown. Verify that you have entered everything correctly. If something is wrong, click the left arrow repeatedly to get back to the page that information was on and correct it, then click the right arrow repeatedly to get back to here. When everything is correct, you can click Go Ahead to save the configuration.
